Description
|
The book was written in 1919 by Peter Gottfredson, who as a boy was a herdboy in Thistle Valley, about 1863. Mr. Gottfredson did not want the conditions to be forgotten and wondered why so little interest had been taken in keeping memoranda and records of events and conditions of those early and trying times. It took the writer twenty years to compile this history. It has always been the policy of the Latter-Day Saint people to court the friendship of the American Indians and treat them kindly. Brigham Young said, "It is cheaper to feed them than fight them." | |
