Description
|
This piece of wood came from a tree cut above the narrows in South Willow Canyon. The tree grew for 259 years before it was cut down. The rings show that in 259 years the tree grew 4 1/2 inches. The even growth of the tree was caused by the shade from a larger tree next to it. Inscribed on the wood is the history that would have occurred during the life of the tree. The history is from Colonial America, starting in 1677 when Maine was bought by Massachusetts, and ending in 1936 when the tree was cut down. | |
